LINDA EVANGELISTA IS HARD TO MISS IN CHANEL
You might have already noticed, but there has been a bit of interest in the 1990’s recently on both the fashion and beauty fronts. So we all know about rave and grunge but for the more glamtastic gal it is time to revisit the supermodel. Now the word supermodel is so much over used now, but back when it was first coined the word was meant for a vaulted few. Before celebs took over magazine covers these girls ruled the style world. Linda was even famous for saying she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than $10,ooo a day! Before Kate Moss launched her waifish look, these curvy (by comparison) models rocked the runways at Chanel, Versace and Dior. They graced front covers and were in the most glamorous music videos, and they got followed and photographed and became household names. Soon everyone knew them by their Christian names. As models they have stood the test of time – Linda, Christy, Cindy et al. still have major advertising campaigns under their still skinny belts. So for some inspiration we are going to take a look back at some inspirational images, and then we are going to look at how you can rook the supermodel look right now. Plus the SUPERMODEL TAN……………
CHRISTY AND LINDA rock the monochrome look, photographed for Vogue by Patrick Demarchelier
CHRISTY in vintage Versace – the bra top would look good right now…….
LINDA, CINDY, NAOMI AND CHRISTY in legendary Versace babydolls that we wish we could get our hands on……..
LINDA in multi-print Versace metallics that would be on point in 2013
NADIA AND CLAUDIA rock high waist skinny Versace jeans and heels……..
THE VOGUE MAGAZINE COVER THAT MADE FASHION HISTORY……….
So you want to adopt a modern supermodel look? Well you have to be be prepared for full on glamour. It is all about big, statement hair, defined eyes and glowing limbs. When it comes to making a fashion statement then you need to think about being red-carpet ready, whether you are in jeans or a dress. But here are four of our favourite supermodel-style dresses………..
MARK MELIA White Feathered Dress
Supermodel style is all about fantasy dressing, and nothing is more fantastical than a white feathered dress. This one by Mark Melia is high octane glamour, and just needs some metallic accessories, a golden glow, and some flowing locks.
KIRSTY DOYLE Penelope Dress
This dress is pure, classic glamour and the ruffled bodice adds a flourish of Audrey Hpeburn style. Sometimes you can’t beat a black dress and this one needs little in the way of embellishment. The design speaks for itself!
PHILIP ARMSTRONG Black high waisted trousers and fur jacket
Now this outfit makes us feel like jetting off somewhere on a private plane to an exotic location to shoot the next cover of Vogue. Nothing makes legs look longer than a high waisted black trouser, and the fur jacket ramps up the glam factor. Just add diamonds. Obviously.
RIHANNA for RIVER ISLAND Side Split Maxi Dress
This is how to do supermodel style on a budget. This long black dress is super flattering whether you are curvy or slender, and the side split is the ultimate sassy touch. Just add big hair and towering heels. Viola!
